What is Play and Learn?
Structured Daycare
Puppies benefit from early learning!
Puppies have a crucial socialization window that should be addressed early on.
Before bringing your puppy home, the breeder should have initiated the process by introducing the young pup to various stimuli like new sights, sounds, and experiences.
Our Play and Learn program aims to familiarize your new furry family member with a wide array of experiences. They will interact with new people, hear sounds like fireworks, trains, and trucks, and receive basic obedience and crate training. This approach helps puppies overcome fear, build confidence, and become well-behaved family members.
Play and Learn runs from 9am to 12pm or 1pm to 4pm Monday to Friday. Half day Play and Learn plus before an aftercare is available. Early drop off of up to one hour and late pick up of up to one hour available for $5 for an whole or part hour.
Morning Play and Learn only $45+ tax/day
Afternoon Play and Learn only $45+ tax/day

Frequently Asked
Questions?
When should my puppy start training classes?
Your puppy can start as soon as its had it second set of vaccines, usually given around 10 weeks of age.
Why should my Puppy learn to be Crate Trained?
Throughout its life your puppy may need to be crate for its safety including when it is home alone, during veterinary procedures and for travel. Teaching them the crate is a safe space will help your puppy learn that a crate is not be feared.
My dog barks or lunges at other animals and people.
Reactivity in dogs is often rooted in fear. Reactive dogs may exhibit behaviours like barking or lunging at various triggers such as other animals, people, bicycles, skateboards, or cars. These responses are typically a way for the dog to cope with perceived threats in their environment. Please speak to our staff before enrolling for a class if your dog shows signs of reactivity.
Are your training classes indoors?
YES! Our classes are held indoors in a fully climate-controlled facility all year round, ensuring warmth during the winter and cool air conditioning in the summer. Our training hall features rubberized flooring for a safe, non-slip surface to enhance your dog's comfort and safety. When the weather is nice, we may even take the training outdoors for a refreshing change of pace!
At Leashed Learner's Academy, we understand that dogs who are rehomed or come from a rescue may need time to adjust to their new surroundings. To ensure they feel comfortable and secure, we kindly ask that your dog has been in your household for at least three weeks before beginning any of our classes. This allows them to settle in and be better prepared for a successful training experience.
I got my dog through re-homing or a rescue, how long
do I need to wait before starting classes?
For class, please bring the following:
A regular flat collar, Gentle Leader or Halti-style head harness, or body harness
A 4- or 6-foot non-retractable leash
A non-squeaking chew toy (e.g., Kong, Gorilla Chew, Nylabone)
Medium to high-value treats for rewarding your dog (e.g., Rollover, Crumps, Smack)
A cell phone to take a photo of your homework (or feel free to bring a notebook for taking notes during class)
These items will help ensure a productive and successful training session for you and your dog!
What do I need to bring to class?
Young puppies (under 20 weeks) must have at least its second set of vaccinations to attend any class, rabies is not required under six months old. For older dogs, proof of any required boosters as well as rabies is also required. While the Bordetella vaccine is not mandatory for class participation, we highly encourage you to consider it to help protect your dog from Kennel Cough.
What vaccines does my dog need to attend?
